Adria Amenti, L.Ac.
"I have great faith in the wisdom of the body, and I approach each with respect and sensitivity. My acupuncture treatments are gentle, encouraging change but never forcing the body. My first priority is the patient's comfort, so I use needles that are about 20% slimmer than the standard acupuncturists' needle, so that patients can have a comfortable experience during treatment."
Adria obtained her Master degree from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, one of the premier Traditional Chinese Medical schools in the United States. She is extensively trained in integrative medicine and has worked at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and in private practice with an ObGyn.
Her style is exquisitely gentle and focused on patient comfort; she uses top quality sterile, individually-packaged disposable needles that are approximately 20% thinner than standard Chinese acupuncture needles. Prior to her career in medicine, Adria spent several years studying towards a doctorate in theoretical solid-state physics. Intrigued by the energetic concepts of physics and wondering how they might be related and applied to human health, Adria decided to enter the healing profession instead. She considers it an honor to be a partner in her patients' health.
An educator by nature, Adria gives monthly lectures to the community on various health topics and instructs CPR and Preventative Health training classes through Bananas, a nonprofit child-centered resource organization in Berkeley. Adria is a doctoral fellow at Five Branches University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Jose. She has also studied under TCM fertility specialist Dr. Lifang Liang, OMD, PhD, LAc, and is the compiler and editor for Dr. Liang's forthcoming textbook on TCM gynecology. Adria is a professional member of the California State Oriental Medical Association and an editor for the California Journal of Oriental Medicine. She is also a professional harpist and performs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including as a volunteer musician for hospices.
